History

The Town of Lucama was established in 1889. Lucama is truly a southern charm city that many folks like to live in for life. The population of Lucama is quite diversified. For its seniors, Lucama offers a Lucama Senior Center that offers hot meals and daily activities. For its children, Lucama offers a unique town library and wonderful educational opportunities. The Lucama municipal government is a proud team that is not afraid to take a risk and work hard to better the lives of its citizens.


Location

The Town of Lucama is located in Wilson County, adjacent to the NC 264 bypass around the City of Wilson and within a short driving distance to I-95. Lucama is only a 5-minute drive to Wilson, NC and only a one-hour drive to the state’s capitol, Raleigh. The town has excellent water and sewer capabilities, rail access, and a workforce that is eager to produce good products and services. Below is a general map of Lucama’s location.


Demographics

The Town of Lucama and the surrounding area offers a variety of workforce skills to interested manufacturers. The workforce in Wilson County has a good history of providing skilled workers for manufacturing facilities in the county. Other manufacturing facilities in the county include Bridgestone-Firestone, Ball-Foster Glass, and several pharmaceutical companies.
